With an annual revenue of $10 – $100 million, A Mrs. Fields franchise is a sound business choice. Here’s what you need to know if you want to get one.

The Company

The year 1981 saw the beginnings of one of the largest retailers of freshly baked cookies in the US. They started franchising the following year. Today, its franchise system spans over 300 locations throughout the US and 22 other countries and operates from their headquarters in Broomfield, Colorado. Their products now include brownies, muffins, cakes, croissants, bagels, cinnamon rolls, sticky buns, chocolate, and a variety of beverages.

The Franchise

The Mrs. Fields franchise is offered in two different formats—the cookie store and the kiosk. Those applying for a franchise must undergo training, which can include in-store, on-the-job, classroom, and computer-based training. Direct participation of the franchisee in the store operations is highly encouraged by the company. It is not obligatory, but they require the franchisee to hire a full-time manager to work on the premise if managing the store themselves is unlikely.

The initial franchise term is ten years, starting from the day the franchise agreement is finalized. It is renewable to another ten years subject to the company’s terms and conditions.
